Default Passing Gear?

Truck seems to run fine, but take it it on the highway and try and pass someone. It bucks hard and you can hear it but damn thing dont wanna move, passing gear seems to kick in but truck hardly moves. Dealership said "Dakotas are setup like that"<--(BS), checked/changed plugs + wires, exhaust, cleaned Throttle Body, I guess i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions? O and its a 03 Dakota SLT. 3.9 automatic trans 23,000 on it. Thanks..

Passing gear....thats easy......when your driving along just toss the truck in to P.....lol ok I'm joking dont do that.

Dealership is way off, I've never heard anyone say that. I would think something having to do with the throttle, like something sticking maybe. But I could be wrong.

could be your torque converter not putting the power through the transmission.. you say she slams from 4th (overdrive) into 3rd? then she wont accelerate, does the engine RPM's spike from lets give a opertaion range - 2000 rpms to like 3500 when you get into the throttle for her to down shift?

i just turn OD off and let her rip.. I like peoples faces when there half assleep and hear a little truck loud *** hell pass them at 6am in the morning.

You have a v6. Your high end isnt going to be that GREAT to pass people like they are standing still, the bucking is probably a missfire. Or your TPS sensor needs to be moded. check the sticky up top for deatails.

You could be having problems and not thoughing codes, out trucks LOVE to do that. I call it playing marco pollo with your truck.. you never win.

I would check the following

Fuel Pressure
TPS Sensor
TB Linkage at WOT make sure the kickdown is moving at the same rate as the throttle cable
Adjust TV Cable (google for more info)
Check for Misfires
Tranny may need to be serviced (flush, new filter, fluid) and not a drain, get the **** out of the T/Coverter. Run in neutral while flushing alot of dumbasses dont know that.. they put it in drive or park.
could be other stuff..
