Default URGENT

I recently Changed my timing chain but now I think the alternator is not set up properly. Also I broke one of the mounting bolts for the terminal on the back (2 prong thing?) I believe it still touches so I think it is fine. But there is this black cable which connects from the 2 prong connector but I havent seen it in pictures or anything is this just a ground cable? It has sort of lock groove in it. Any help would be appreciated as I need to drive to school tomorow...

Well that problem seems to be done with for now. But Now I have a different one im not sure what would cause this but my insturment cluster doesn't seem to have anything working. All the lights work etc.. Just nothing moves. RPM, speed, battery, etc... I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota. Timing chain just replaced. So I think something under the hood got disconnected by the ac or alternator. Any ideas/ I would like to be able to see how fast I am going lol.

Do a search for gauge problems. I can't remember off the top of my head, but if it isn't as simple as a fuse, I think it is the PCM. I don't remember though, so search it up.

Well it's very odd Because sometimes after sitting for awhile the gauges will come on than suddenly drop out. This morning the Gauges went on well the tac went up to 1,500 on start up than stoped. The trip monitor/k's on vehicle is blinking? The k's hasent' changed or the trip monitor though I can switch between both of them.

my ram has a group of about 3 grounds on the accy bracket next to the power steering pump. these are removed to get to the timing chain. when i did mine i missed connecting them, and had no gauges and 'no bus' showing in odometer. check there. you might remove, clean and re-tighten.

Never removed the power steering it wasen't in the way for me And I just checked a little while ago and there are 3 cables there. It is odd though, but I do get electricty to the thing but sometimes it goes on. But One problem is my k's aren't going on the gauge any more. And I don't know how much gas I have ...
