Default Another E-fan question

I've been reading a lot in here about converting atwo fan (electric and clutch)system over to a single fan from a Taurus, MK VIII,Viper or someother aftermarketfan. My question is why can't I just splice into the existing wiring for my E-fan?

Not really, because the factoryelectric fan only kicks in at 210*, which is a little late to just start cooling. They should kick in earlier than that to be effective. Plus the factory wiring is just too small. Those fans draw a lot of current and a relay is needed.

From what I've read, the Taurus fan does pull a lot of amps when it starts and thengoes downafter that. I'm assuming that's for the high speed. What if you connected the low speed wireto an adjustable thermostat to come on at a lower temperature and then wire in the high speed wireto the existing factory wiring? That way the fan will already be spinning and shouldn't take the spike in amps to get it started.

That could be possible. If I get a chance, and can find my clamp for my meter, I'll test the running current on High and on Low on my fan and let you know. I'll also try to monitor the spike when I switch it from Low to High.

Now where the hell did I put my clamp?? lol

i just purchased and e fan and all the wiring from northcoast. it is a ebay seller. great product and for under 100.00 works like a charm. even comes with an adjustable thermostat setting. it is a 16 inch procomp series. they also make up to 22 inch.
