Is it somewhat common fr the center console latch (front banch) to stick?

I basically have to use 2 hands to open it- I popped the cover off, and it shouldnt take but a 5th grader to realize that the angles the latch uses are impossible angles to deliver force through.

Is there a DIY type fix to file that lever or limit it's latching movementto where the angles are right but it still holds the lid when upright?

 

ok my dad and I just fixed it using a file, 2 1/4" pieces of rubber hose, and some superglue.

 

You guys sound like Mcgiver you just needed duct tape and a ball point pen

 

we used the hose to move the latch mechanism so that it stops 1/4 way from normal so when the handle is pulled it makes a better angle.

 

i lubed mine with lithium <sp> grease and its worked fine ever since, and yes this is common

 

we tried a bearing grease and graphite comination, didn't help at all.
