ball joints

Default ball joints

ii have a 2004 dakota 4x4 with 34000mi several months out of warranty in need of lower ball joints. Can anyone tell me the procedure for replacing them or where i can find the info? The manuel i have states to you have to removed the lowere control arm but appears vaque on the procedure of the 4x4. thanks mike

if its only a couple of months out of warranty but still within the miles, call the dealer. If theyre cool they may be willing to do it under warranty still.

it depends on how much wear those things were put through, obvious signs of taking the truck off road and such, no way will the dealership take care of it but you possibly can work something out since the truck hasnt seen the road yet pretty much, ive had my dakota for 2 years already and put about 60K miles on it within that time, time to get driving and see the country buddy

the dealer told me that there was nothing they could do except quote a price of $489, they already replaced the rack and pinion and a center link for the steering just recently for n/c. Its 90% highway driving no off road. This is why i'm enquiring about doing it myself.

thats odd, most dealerships here in Oregon would do it anyways since its still within mileage and isnt due to excessive abuse.
