Default tranny problem

so i think im having a problem with my tranny...its hard to explain the noise it makes sometimes...most of the time when i hit the gas to the floor it revs up and doesnt shift and i know thats normal for daks untill u let off the gas but when i do i can hear some sort of metal ticking/ possible grinding when it shifts gears at a high rpm. Also its switched gears before and then reved up real high like it was slipping if auto trannys can do that, then it would down shift and then shift up again and it would be fine. Would a full tranny flush and new filter help this at all?

and what do you guys think i should do for my exhaust...this kit from ebay http://cgi.ebay.ca/dodge-dakota-dual...QQcmdZViewItem
if this would even work my 98 r/t
OR
should i get a 3" magnaflow highflow cat and run a single 3" flowmaster cat back system?

Give the tranny flush a shot and filter. Maybe also throw in some lucas before you do this to swell up the thing. Might fix the problem. (Does it sound like metal slipping in metal?) Check fluid levels etc... too.

IF it's the band you will hear it. But sounds like something isn't getting fluid or something is that isn't supposed to. Maybe even torque converter?

That exhaust would be sweet No cat converter can be good. But gives you a bit less bottom end. (The first set up would probably be better) (Flowmaster isn't a straight through design like universal magnaflow.)

If you have a welder it will be simple probably. I have never done it. The stock hangers are like a ubolt with a rubber thing for freeplay, and you can slide in two side per hanger. Weld hangers in. make sure you get the right size and so on. Also depends on the sound you want, and v8 sounds better than v6. Flowmaster is more higher sounding while magnaflow is a mellow rumble, screams a bit at higher revs though flowmaster is like this mostly all the way.

If it sounds like metal slipping on metal. It probably is the band does this happen in 1st or second gear. 2nd to 3rd with be the front band. 1'st to second will be the rear one. Id bring it to the shop get them to drain the tranny with the pan put new filter adjust bands. (Make sure on the bands, unless you have a shift kit as this changes the adjustment.)

Mine sounded like a metal wheel inside of metal and you will hear it from the floor boards. Mine happened when driving hard on the gas. One day it slipped so bad it went from 5k rpm slowly down to 2k not shift just a transition.

If you are concerned take it to a good tranny shop you trust.
