Default Cold Air Or Short Ram

i kno that there are tons of these type of threads and you guys are prolly annoyed with them but ... whats the difference between cold air and short ram for trucks? cuz the only thing i see is that shield that is different. is the sheild the only difference between the two? and does the shield actually work when tryin to block out the heat bcuz to be it doesnt seem like it would bcuz it is sum type of metal and to me it would heat up which would cause the lil space by the filter to heat up which would cause the filter to heat up(correct me if i am wrong but that is jus how it would seem to work).. is paying the extra money for a cold air wit the shield worth the money or not?

lol subject has been covered about 500 times, anyway do neither, both a waste of time and money, instead save up for a motor w. power...

the shield does not absorb a significant amount of heat to make a negative difference... I will be doing a mpg test on a K&N setup in the near future if you can hold off that long.

I have always been told that it depends if you want low end power or top end. for low end go with a SRI. for a better top end go with a CAI. but maybe I am wrong.

People have been telling you bad info. Every (almost every) aftermarket intake CAI or not will move more air than the stock system. It just depends on where this air is coming from. A true CAI will draw air from outside the engine bay. As far as low end/top end, your trottle body will be making the difference there, not your intake system.
