Default Dakota quit going down road...

My son's truck quit on his wife this afternoon while going down the road. Turns over but won't start, smells like bad rotten eggs? We're going to pull it home and check it out tomorrow, but any possibilities you guys can off up tonight might get us pointed in the right direction? Catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, mass air flow sensor or will any of those cause it to just quit while going down the road?
Thanks

welcome to DF... check the cats and see if they are plugged... temp in should be lower than the temp out. check the o2 sensors as well. the smell is an indicator of a cat either working real hard or something is way out of wack.

which motor does he have?
which year?

rotten egg smell though... a bad crank would kill the ignition & fuel and you wouldnt have the oder...

Pull codes so we can at least get an idea. Clogged cats will cause a serious lack of power, but I've never seen one so bad that the engine wouldn't run.

And most Dodge trucks are not equipped with a MAF, just a MAP.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, seems like something electrical, I went and pulled it home today. Turns over fine, gas smell at exhaust pipe when trying, but no rotten bad odor today? Maybe she flooded it quit abit yesterday trying to start it? Quit while driving just like you reached up and turned the key off. We won't get a chance to check it out real good until tomorrow or Saturday. I had a Ford truck that did this quite a few years back and it was the ignition module andan LTDthat did also and it was a little part inside the distributor, so I'm leaning towards no spark. Should we be able to get a trouble code pointing to the culprit? I have some friends that could help with that but haven't done it myself before.
Thanks again. I'm sure I'll have more questions when start checking it out.
