To all those with 5.9s, i just purchased a 99 r/t and am looking to do some mods to it. If anyone can recommend, a throttle body spacer and/or entirely new throttle body, also if anyone has installed a spacer did you have anytrouble with lines or cables being streched or needing to be extended. Plus are the name brand cold airs worth the money or are the intakes on ebay under 100 bucks just as good any info anyone can leave... please doo

I cut my own 1/2 inch spacer from a chunk of plastic. I did this on my 96 Dakota 5.2 and noticed an increase in torque. I did it to my 2000 Durango just because I did it to the 96. I've put a cold air intake and a Cherry Bomb Vortex on the truck at the same time, sooo... hard to tell what did what, but I have had no problems with the spacer.

 

a throttle body spacer does no good on a 5.9 because of the intake manifold. get your self a hughes enginesstage 2 throttle body and stage 2 intake manifold. i guarantee you it will make some big power. get a k&n CAI and a nice exhaust system and you can cause some trouble at the track.

 

The mods list could go on and on... Heads, Ported polished etc... Headers (Get some higher flow ones) Exhaust, Injectors, Methanol Injection, All the intake stuff above. Wires,plugs. Depends on your price range. Turbo it up? I was reading on the net, STS turbo can gain you a lot. Since they have solved the overheating problem. For about 4k you can get one. (Would have to do some moding as they don't have a specific one for dakota's yet but they have ones for toyota and im sure it would be similar. )

 

throttle body spacer is only good for a paper weight, get an anfermarker billet throttle body or a ported fastman throttle body, headers duals, mopar computer, underdrive pullies, air intake kit.... the list is endless
