Default 1998 Dakota 3.9 won't start have to wait an hour

My dad's 1998 Dakota will start, drive and run fine. After shutting off and waiting 10, 15 minutes-go to start again, it will not start( happens more when it's colder out) after waiting an hour or so, go to start and it will start and drive no problems.
Any thoughts of what's wrong?

check the crank sensor or the coil... sounds like a potentially heat sensitive problem.

If the check valve in the fuel pump was bad, it would be hard to start but it would start. one way to check that is to turn the key on and listen for the pump to turn on for about 2 seconds, then off. turn the key off & on again and then try to start it. if the fuel lines are dry, this will prime them and if that is the problem, it'll start up much easier.

I would have to agree. . .as cheap as a pick-up coil is and as easy as it is to replace I would start there
