Default 3.9 cam swap

Anyone know of a good torquey cam for a 3.9? I'm looking to do a cam swap on my 2001. If anyone has done one, or has any ideas let me know.

thanks

Not sure of cams, but once you get this done get a custom computer set up. Forget what it is called but now you can controll everything in the Comp. Maybe a custom Cam?

I think i'm going to talk to hughes engines about the cam. I also need a stage one throttle body from them too. I think you are talking about the SCT tuning. I just found out about that. The funny thing is, there's a speed shop about 4 blocks from my house that has one. I think i'm going to stop in sometime and talk to them about it.

Yea the SCT is new. I just heard about it too and it's nice dodge is finally lifting their control over pcm's. If you really want power from your engine, consider a STS Turbo. (Do all the mods at the same time.)

i cant afford to do all the mods at the same time. it's a slow process thats taken me about 4 years to get this far. after the cam swap i plan on swapping out to 3.92 gears and an auburn LSD. those gears should compliment the power range i'm going for pretty well. plus it'll be fun to do real burnouts

Are you going to lift this truck ever? If you are id put bigger gears in. like 4.10 Helps with the large tires.

no, lifting a truck that's 2wd is pointless to me. i'm going for performance and a lift doesnt really help that out. in fact sometime i'd like a 2/3 drop or something. dont get me wrong, a lifted 4x4 dakota with big tires is pretty bad ***, but thats not what i'm going for.

3.92 will be perfect for that especially with some smaller tires. If you get around to a cam, turbo, Bore, heads. Id like to see a vid of your truck run a track. Probably do good. Best mod though is that turbo. On a 03 tac, they put on dyno, 122 rwhp, after turbo they had 323 rwhp. Amazing what a v6 can do with the right stuff. (The engine is 190hp stock, so not that much of a difference than the 3.9, and with the extra displacement you might be able to get more power... )

Well, The 3.9 is the same as the 5.2L just with two pistons chopped off. Im sure you would see some improvement. Just using 6 cyl versus 8cyl. How much are these cams? I don't know about the cam's too much. They just allow more lift, or less faster or more time. Now with the SCT it would probably add a few HP. 30 hp? What are you looking for Low end torque... That is my guess. The reason why no one has come in here is because no one has camed a 3.9l
