Default What other years of rear axle would fit mine.

I have a 2000 qc 4x4 with 3.55 and lsd that the rear end is whining pretty loud and has been for a while. I was wondering if just getting a junk yard complete axle and swap it out would be easier then trying to repair what is damaged.

So my question is what other years are the same axle and what would i expect to pay at a junkyard for it.

also never done an axle but i do all my own work and should have most of the tools i need. how hard is it to do?

i know a lot of parts are interchangeable from the durange but is the axle one of them?

i dont know for sure if its a 8.5 or 9.25

any advice is appreciated

thanks

joe

I'd like to know too. I have a 99 2wd lowered and a 4x4 04 quad cab. The 04 has a 3.55 and disc brakes and was wondering if that style axle would fit in the 99?

Well I can tell you two things, to tell what axle 8.25 is a 10 bolt and 9.25 is a 12 bolt rearend. This summer when my 8.25 ls got rebuilt to coust about 500-600 for new ring and pinoin, all new bearings and sleaves, some parts for the limited slip. The problem in mine started with a bearing sleave geating a piece taken out and it went from there, but i blame that on my dad for not having rear diff fload change in 7 years and 51k mile, so when he got it new[:@].
Good luck and from the work i have done at locking to see what would fit or are the same is 97 to 02 but i could be wrong.
