I have a '98 Dakota r/t and we got a monster storm here Monday, driving to work was tough enough in the snow, had to really spin the tires to get up hills, then I heard a very unsettling noise....a loud boom, I thought for sure was my tranny, but everything still worked so i though. Today I got stuck in my shop parking lot, straight ground, jsut on ice.....only to see what the noise was. My driver side tire spins freely now, only the passenger rear tire has power. Anyone know what might've blown?

 

Spider gears from what it sounds like. I would have a tranny shop check it out.
