Ok I have a 3.9L that is almost to 60k miles. I am thinking about going to synthetic oil and have been reading alot about it including alot of threads on the site. I have servale questions.
1) DO i need to go to a blend or can i just put in a full synthetic?
2) How long can i go on an oil change? I ussally change my oil about every 2500 miles.
3) I have not found much on the difference of oil filters, I know that moble one and k&n have synthetic oil filtters but is there a difference between them and normal oil filters?
Thank you for your help.

I use castrol GTX syntec 10w30 with a fram synthetic oil filter. I usually change it at around 5-6,000kms. and the used oil goes into the 88 dak. I have 217,000kms and she's still runnin strong
I switched mine over when I got it at 150k about 3 years ago.

you'd be better off buying cheep oil for the '88... unless the oil coming out of your 2nd gen dak is highly filtered, the gunk that is in there will not do you 88's motor any favors...

Here's my 2 cents worth. I'm a believer in synthetic oil. I run my '99 dak 4 banger 6 months between oil changes, I swap out filters every 90 days or 5k miles, which ever comes 1st. I run 5W20 synthetic in the late fall through winter and then change out to 10W30 synthetic late spring. I have access to oil analysis equipment and I do that twice a year with oil from the filter I changed out. I've been doing this for 2 yrs and all wear is well below nominal levels as specified by Dodge. My truck has 75K original miles on it and is surviving New England weather. I got 7" of snow on the ground now with 3 to 4 more coming. I do use 20% Lucas' Oil Stabilizer to 80% synthetic oil (ELF brand) when I do the complete change. I add Lucas' every odd numberedfilter change, I top off with synthetic oil on the even numbered filter changes.
