Default CEL on when really cold?!?!

hey all, its been a while since I posted, so I thought I'd post a little problem I have been having. My CEL will come on when its really cold out. It came on tonight cause its like 20 degrees out and windy. I'm a little lost on this one. Any ideas?

do you have a low temp thermostat in it? if so it may be throwing a code for not getting up to operating temp fast enough.

I have the stock 195 in. I do have a 180T-stat ready to go in. But i think im gonna wait top put that in till summer. The light wasnt on today. It was a little warmer today then yesturday.

hmm.. does your truck have an engine block heater? if not, it might be taking it too long to warm up.

I'm not sure what type of heater it has. The light will come on for a while, then off for a while while im driving or if i let it sit overnight. OR, it'll be off when i start driving then come on a little while later. OR, it'll be on when i forst start driving then turn off and stay off for a little while. I hope this info is more helpful!!

Well I would say if you can, when the check engine light comes on, take it to a local autoparts store that scans codes for free and see what code pops up. That would be the first thing I would do, then you can get actual help instead of people taking a stab in the dark. Just a thought.
