The 2002 QC will have seat belt tensioners which have to be replaced also. Did you do that? The module will also most likely need to be replaced. I can't find the DTC's for the 2002 Dakota right off but maybe someone else can supply those. I'm not overly familiar with the Dodge system but I know Fords will flash the air bag light in a series of blinks that can be translated into fault codes. I'm interested in knowing if Dodge does that also. Dodge techs ...... help?
You would almost have to have the codes in order to have an idea which direction to go. The air bag light won't give you any code information, but it will clear itself after you fix the problem and cycle the ignition switch off and on one time without having a scanner to clear the code. If you can get the code I can give you an idea where to go.

both front seatbelts were in a "locked" state....i took them off the pillars and took off the ratcheting mechanism and was able to reset them....I put them back on and they work normally now, without having to buy new ones.
I will give more info as soon as I ge it, but both bags are bolted in and the lite is on constant
I've not seen the Dodge version but every other seat belt w/tensioner I've seen has an explosive charge (like the air bags) to tighten the belt around the occupant. There is no "resetting" them because you can't replace the charge. They may function as a standard seat belt if you did what you say but the won't function properly nor will the SRS system clear. Again, I've not seen the Dodge version.
I have always read that the seat belt retractors are supposed to be replaced in the event of a collision. I amnot sure why this is, but it is what I have read. The clockspring is another one of these things. It may appear normal and undamaged, but if they bags deployed they should be replaced too.
From the '01 Service Manual
"Seat Belt Tensioners - Quad cab models are
equipped with front seat belt tensioners for both outboard
front seating positions. These tensioners are
controlled by the ACM and are integral to the front
seat belt and retractor assembly."
Replace only, NOT repairable.

I have always seen where manufacturers (from a cover your a$$ point of view) will put it in print to Replace.
When I had each front retractor asembly off, I didn't notice any extra wires that looked like they would trigger a "charge" to lock the belts.....although they were in a "locked"--not self-retracting position.
there was a little plastic (ratcheting cam) cover that was held in by 3 littlepush in plasticrivits and once that was off, I was able to removethe ratcheting mechanism....reinstalled it and the seat belt mechanism to the frame.Upon a very fast pull on the belt and the belt doeslock in place....also does that upon a very hard brake application.....
I would have to say the seat belt works properly.....
No, I am not following blindly what the Book says, but I am sure the the book wouldn't agree with other Mods that we do either.
I think to totally fix the light being on is that Istill do need to replace the clockspring (which I did on a Subaru that the air bag light was stuck on.....and is now off).
Thanks to all who posted....i have learned from you

Unless you take it and get the codes read you're simply guessing what will prove out the system. I've repaired several dozen cars that had the bags blown and have only once replaced a clockspring ....... modules on all but a couple, tensioners/belts/buckles on EVERY one that had them (NOT because the BOOK said to). Keep us informed on your replacements and what fixes it.
