Default stupid brakes

ok, so I did a brake job on my 99 in the summer, and now just acouple days ago I was driving around town and the gf said she smelt something burning. I didnt think anything of it, but when we got out, my rotors were smokin hot! so, I thought it was the caliper. so I had to buy all new pads, rotors, calipers for the front. so then I left the shop. and just from the shop to the gf house(maybe 5min drive) they were smokin hot again. I just spent $400 on the damn brakes. I dunno whats causing it now. maybe master cylendar is sticking abit? I dunno. when I bled the lines, they were flowing pretty good, so it cant be theflexlines. its really pissing me off! I'm driving my gf's pos neon right now.until I get thisdamn this fixed. I hate throwing money at stuff and it doesnt fix it.[:@]

Sorry can not help you there. I just replaced mine, and might i add it was perfect timeing because on the right front rotor on the inside they were about toast and the pads man i would have been rubbing metal. i hope you figure it out. i do not knopw to much about brakes just how they work and how to put them on. I could ask my dad he is a mechanic maybe he would have some insight to what could be the problem. and again i hope you getit fixed.

Sounds like the brakes simply are not releasing all the way.
I'd make sure the pedal is coming back up all the way.
Also,.. Just a thought; are your rear-brakes assisting at all
during your braking??

I couldnt really tell from your post but did you put the newcalipers/rotors/pads on yet or did youjust buy them so far...
Same thing happend to me over the summer on my 97...but my brakes were pretty old...was just theleft front caliper seizing..i hate working on brakes so itook it to the shop and they hadto replace, pads/rotar/caliper/lines. Pretty much everything wastoast..The lines, and calipers were just old...the pads and rotars were toast from driving them all seized up for about 10 miles....
Good luck.

Dak front brakes just plain suck. They are some off the shelf parts thrown on. too small to handle the task. I rebuilt mine before I moved from Florida to Salt Lake City last June. New pads, rotors and replaced the slider pins according to the TSB (look for my earlier post) and within six months the rotors are warped and the pads are half gone. I'm gonna do a big brake swap and convert the rears to discs in the spring.

.

I had that happen once where the front brakes would apply, but didn't want to release very well.

It turned out to be a front brake hose that was seperating internally.....allowing the fluid to go to the calipers, bu then the flap would cover the return path on the brake fluids way back.

No way to really tell if that is the problem other than just installing new lines to see if that fixes it.

good luck.....keep us posted

ya I already installed the new calipers, pads and rotors. I hope I didnt warp or wreck the new pads already from overheating them. but I'm gonna try and put new flex lines on and see if that fixes it. they are only $30 each and they will be in tomorrow.

flex lines, brake booster, master cylinder. all could be potential problems.

did you flush the lines during all the fixes? sounds like there is gunk in them causing them to stick.

if you did toast them, dont toss them, pull them off and take a sanding block to them. once your done with restoring them and have them back on, go and bed them in. there is a procedure in the CTD forum DIY thread at the top. describes how to do it. I swapped in the brakes on the Dak and went and bedded them in and they work awesome.
