changed battery now got probelms
i went out side one day and my truck would not start, batterywas dead, went to auto zone and bought a battery and now I am having problems with the 2001 4.7L dakota shutting off, if let it run for about5 or 10 minutes it will just stop no CEL code either, need some insight on this problem, i was told by a dodge dealship that it might be the IAC, changed it and still have the same problem, so far I have changed the TPS, Camsahft and Crankshaft Sensors....what next, could it be the battery because I did not have this problem before I changed it and why would it be the battery?
It is apossibility that it's the battery. First check the cables, make sure you have good connections. If that dosn't do it i'd take the battery back and have it tested. Then if still no luck I'd test the alternator. Try the easy stuf first...
if the other battery was dead, i'd say check the alternator. Although i'd like to think it would run for longer than 10 minutes on batt only, esp with a V6?
i got a battery from pep boys a few years ago and ended up taking it back because it was shorting out inside.had to turn around and do it again because the second batery was doing the same thing.i think advance auto will check the battery and the alternator for you at no charge.
yea, just because it's a brand new battery doesnt mean it's going to work properly. I've seen a brand new battery fail twice.

Thats what I was getting at. I work at a parts store selling parts to people, and we occasionaly do sell a battery that comes back faulty. It's not very common, but it does happen. And we also do free alternator and battery tests.

newer vehicles wont last 10 minutes with only the battery because all the accessories suck up so much power.
