So would a 727 take more of a beating than my current trans? And what about gearing, is it a big hit to lose OD?

yes, it will take a beating better than the 46re. If you still want overdrive get a 904 torqueflite, its the same as a 727 except with overdrive. I would say with a gear ratio like 3:73 you will get down the track pretty fast and still be ok for normal driving.

Thanks for the input, the 904 does sound like a better way to go. I have also been working out more of the details on my turbo situation, and I think I may be leaning towards a larger single instead for cost and ease of installation reasons. Anyone well versed in forced induction that could help with the proper sizing of the turbo? It would be a front mounted turbo placed in the airbox space with a mid sized intercooler, and I really would like to keep a low rpm system. I would like to get full boost around 2500 if that is possible, and I am willing to sacrifice some top end to keep good bottom end.

u might want it too start spooling around 2500. the r/t has torque like a mother f***** and with full turbo at 2500 ull never get around to using it unless you like buying new tires every month.

it has humungous power and the best place for u too start feeling the turbo would b 3000-3500. any lower will be pointless..

ask USER im sure hes read this by now and im sure hell back me up on that

I was led to believe that I would want my power very low in the rpm range due to the peak torque being at low rpm. First is it true about the peak power being low? and does anyone have any dyno sheets from a stock R/T? I would like to look at it to see what the range really is so I can be sure to setup my boost to coincide with the trucks existing power band. I also was trying to keep from having to tack the motor so much to feel the gains from the turbo and also would like to avoid any excess lag if possible.

Running 8-9lbs of boost, the turbo would be very small anyways. So running 2 will be purely for looks and bragging rights. 1 small turbo could easily spool quick and produce that much boost. But 2 would be very cool. But in the long run, if you build up your engine more, you would have the potential to run much higher boostlevels without having to change your setup. So in that aspect it's a good idea. And it would be bad *** just being able to say you have a TT Dak. You'll have to get a new decal for the rear "R/TT"

It looks like the decision is going to be a single turbo. I have limited funds so the extra cost invovled in a twin system when it would mainly be for show is not a good idea.
So with that I still need some help in the turbo purchase, I have tried the math to figure what I need, but there are too many variables, and holy crap what a pain. Does anyone have any experience that would help here?
BTW, the bumper is awesome, and it looks like I could fit my intercooler behind it. What brand and style is it?
