my 4.7 tranny (45rfe) took 5 1/2 quarts before it was full but i need to check it again. measure whatever amount you get out after dropping the pan and filters, than put that amount in. warm up the engine and tranny and while it is RUNNING and on level ground pull out the dipstick to see what its at. from there you should need to add 1/2 to 1 more quart. thats how mine was so good luck!

46re will take about 6. start with 4 and check it, then 5, etc. you MUST check the fluild with engine running and shift lever in Neutral NOT Park. one of the pumps doesn't run in park. be sure and use ATF+4 for chrysler do NOT use dexron III

my 45rfe took 6 before it was completely full. measure what comes out including what u get out of the filters and than put that amount back in. u will probly have to add from there cuz like i said mine took 6. but the rfe is a bigger tranny than the 5.2 and 5.9 tranny so yours might take less

Hey guys. I want to drop my 45rfe transmission and install a transgo shift kit on my 04 dodge Ram 1500 2wd 5.7 hemi. How many quarts do you think I need to fill back up. Thanks for the help.
