for anyone looking for a TB cable
just thought i'd let everyone know where to get brand new v8 throttle cables at. I ordered mine off www.dodgeparts.com and it came in a few days ago, it is listed under 98-03 5.2 5.9 on the site. it has the right end piece on it so i'm assuming it will work. I will be installing the TB tomorrow so i'll let everyone know how it works out. My intake should be bored out to 50mm size ports according to hughes engines because i have their stage one intake. anyone have any tips on how to change the throttle cable?
I would do this. one, hook the cables up together once you get the top side out of the bracket. (This way it will be pulled through and end up the same route as before, so you will have to get in there tight.) The other end is on the transmission and it's not too bad to remove than just pull once the cable is down to the transmission Clip it into the bracket on top this way you won't pull it too far. Than hook it up underneath and your done. It's very simple to do. I replaced mine already once.
well i installed the tb and new cable tonight, everything went well. i am sort of pissed at hughes engines because my intake is supposed to be bored out to 50mm holes but i dont think it is. there is still a step where the intake holes are a little too small. the throttle plates BARELY clear it though so it should be alright. The truck seemed to really like the high rpm's now though.
not very good for 3.9 low end is what you need my mag seems to have a fair bit of top end, from about 2,500 to 4,000 it seems to kick in more. But before that it sucks lol. I hope to do a v8 drop. 5.9 I love those trucks. Thats too bad about the intake though. I might be buying a block with a damaged intake, and I would buy a new one from hughes or socal. Would a 1st or 2nd stage be better? I don't know much about them. Tell me how the millage works out.
unless you're planning on high performance cylinder heads and a camshaft the stage one will be just fine, otherwise you will really lose low end. i know im losing my low end on my 3.9 but sometime i plan on doing the 1.7 rr's and change to 4.10 gears with a limited slip rear, that will really get my low end back. oh by the way hughes requires a core if you order an intake from them. if yours is damaged they wont take it and you'll have to pay like an extra 300$.
Oh, well better buy the one that works. Hope to get a nice 5.9 as it will just drop right in. I hope i have to buy the whole truck and get upgrades like power locks/windows.
