Anyone else ever get a p0420 code???
I keep gettin this code and am wondering what others have done to cure it??? I'm runnin reg. octane fuel...I dont have access to a decent scan tool to see what the O2 sensors are doin, but bein this code showed up,I'm thinkin its the gas or I need new mini cats...which brings me to ...has anyone replaced theirs,is there an aftermarket y-pipe w/ or w/out the cats, maybe I could fab. one and relocate the sensors to a single high flow???

RE: Anyone else ever get a p0420 code???
i just started getting that too...it is either the catalytic converter going out or the oxygen sensors...both cost about $300 to replace. from what i have heard, the truck will still run fine but you will lose some mpg's is all. when i get some money together i will take it somewhere so they can narrow it down to one or the other. also, from what i have heard is that about 70% of the time it is usually the catalytic converter and not the o2 sensor...hope this helps

i just had my cat replaced for free. fell under dodges warranty. didnt pay a peny. the emissions and computer are still under warranty on my truck. it goes to 80,000 miles i believe. i have 65,000 now. call your local dodge service dept and check if you think that the issue.

RE: Anyone else ever get a p0420 code???
I have had this code for about 2 months now. I just hook up the scan tool and clear the code, and it stays off until i do a lot of city driving. I have not noticed that it cuts down my mpg's (still get about 21 hwy mpg.) I hae not replaced anything yet because it does not seem to be effecting the truck and i also don't want to spend the money i don't have to.
