Default Clock Spring

Does anyone here know where to get a new clockspring besides the dealer? I have searched every auto parts store/web site and cannot find them.

It is an electrical component in the steering column that allows an electricalconnection between the steering column and the steering wheel. It allows the circuit flow for things such as your horn, cruise control andair bag.

Yeah I have found all of those, but I don't think they will fit...and I don't feel like spending all kinds of cash of one if it isn't the correct part.

I just ripped one out of a dak not too long ago, and "played" with it. [:'(] Oops. Anyways, I broke it winding it in and out over and over. Sorry. If I had known you needed one I would ahve sent it to ya.

Go to a junkyard and grab one.

does it just do the air bag, or does it do the horn and/or anything else??

My truck poped its bags and i have since replacedthe bags,
the light is still on, but the horn and cruise do work normally.

I was quoted $85 from the dealer.

You have to replace the clock spring if your airbag is deployed. It controls function for your airbag, cruise control and horn.

Junkyard was where I got mine when I tried to put cruise on my truck. Had to buy the whole steering column though.

If you go here- http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...mp;catalogid=1

it says in the drop down box that it will fit Rams, so if that's correct if you find one for a1994-2001/2002Ram then that should work for 97-99 Dakota's.
