allright. me and my friend, Who has a tricked out 05 Hemi(TheHemi05), were racing.
and he whooped me pretty good.
well im running Stock. hes not...i understand..hahaha.
but. what can i do to even out the playing field a bit?
before he installs his cam and i get blown out the water alltogether.
Im Ridding in a V8 Dakota with a 4.7L Engine.270 HorsePower.
no modifications. whatsoever.
Any Suggestions on what i should do to enhance my Truck?

What rear end do you have in the truck? Changing that is the quickest way to improve your quickness. You could borrow my SRT10 for a day and shut him down.

 

Im not sure...i mean..im not a big truck guru kinda guy. just realy tryin to get into all the mechanics and what not.
its all stock...cept all ive got that isnt is just a K&N AirFilter. but thats it.
i got my exhaust from my headers back already lined up to be installed in a week.
and after this. im not sure on all i need to do. i want to show him that my Dak isnt a *****.
lol he talks big cuz hes got That Hemi.
and i wana shut his *** down.
Hes Runnin around 400 horsepower.
and like i said...i got 270.
so.
any suggestions anyone.

 

actually the 4.7 only put out 245 stock, so unless you have done somehting to it ur only running 245+/-



but i have seen someone w/ cams in the 4.7 that had some pretty nice hp numbers, i think he is in the 3rd gen section user name superdak, im not sure look it up

 

I'm with Moe on that one, I'm planning on doing nitrous during the summer and my auto mechanic teacher tells me it very easy to install. And it's pretty much the cheapest way to get a lot of power too.

 

Also the quickest way to blow up a motor.

I would NOT run nitrous on a 4.7 with the factory "Bake-a-lite" intake manifold. They have a tendency to blow to bits with the slightest backfire on nitrous, or even when just spraying the nitrous. Ever got a glass really hot, then put it in cold water real quick? Well basically the same thing can happen to that intake manifold. They make a replacement one that is metal and can take the abuse of the spray.

I would either do a Turbo, SC or upgrade the engine, since you have a 4.7 already a 5.7 l hemi swap would kick, as than you can do insane mods and so on. Might as well do the cam drop right off the bat! lol. If you did the 5.7 well youd really be whooping *** lol. But for the 4.7 you can cam it i believe but there are few mods.
