Fix it options?
I dont blame you for not wanting to just get rid of the truck. I couldnt part with my 2001 even if I were offered an R/T in a strait up trade for it. The truck was my late grandpa's so it means alot to me. I dont understand why your insurance wont fix it though. I got in a wreck that i got ticketed for a few years back and my insurance fixed my truck. I guess you only have liability or something. My 88 is only liability so if I wreck that i'm SOL, but I have a feeling whatever I hit in my 88 is going to have alot more damage than me. That truck is solid as a rock and even though it's underpowered it's fun to drive with the 5 speed.
yea, my ins. paid the other guy who needed some plastic and a bumper, no biggie, couple hundred at most. but me... nada
this truck is my first car, not my last but i'm very much attached.

It really shouldn't cost that much to have the cab corner replaced. It would be much easier and cheaper than replacing the whole cab or even buying another parts truck. There is a lot more than you think that would go into swapping cabs plus you would run the risk of having wiring problems or other isues afterwards. I would call around to a few body shops and get estimates first to give you an idea. Most will give free estimates...especially if you tell them it is for insurance purposes (even if it isn't)
On a side note...if it was batman13's fault the only way his insurance would cover the repair is if he has full coverage. Comprehensive or liability will only cover the other drivers vehicle in a collision in most cases.
