Default 01 dakota club cab

Hello all from cant va,I am thinking of doing the home brew c.a.i.this weekend has any one had any horrra stories on this , and one questoin,at the filter end would it be best to box off the engine and bottom sides to some what block the heat from the engine.next i am woundering if i can add the small on borad read out in the head panel, are the factory wires there,my truck did not come with that in it,looks like only the quad cab has this i have the club cab.as allways all input will be apprecated.thanks from the school bus mechanic in va.

not really any horry storys there is a link floating around here i know i've posted it many times on how to do a really nice homebrew intake. and the best option is to get the filter outside of the engine bay somehow but if you can't do that then making some sort of heat shield may help. as far as the read out thing on the head panel i know that i test drove a 99 extended cab that had it so its not just the quads. i'm sure you could wire it in if you found one. not 100% sure on that tho maybe someone else has some input.

I made a custom intake for mine a while ago, then I bought a ebay one with a heat shield. now I have the stock airbox with a K&N drop in air filter.it seems to work better.
