Default Hard start.

Hey,

It's been a while since i posted. Ha. My trucks been good to me for a while except today. I went out to go use my truck to drive to the store. I went to start it and it was cranking, but not start unless i gave it some throttle. Once it started, it ran HORRIBLY for about 3 seconds until i got off the gas. It did this about 3 times until i just held the gas down a little further and it started, fumbled a bit, then ran perfectly at about 1,00 rpms to warm up. After that, it ran like it always has which is like a charm. I did get a funny smell of like gas/exhaust i guess. Thats the best way to describe the smell. It started fine when i came out of the store and ran fine going back to my school. Im confused on this one. Im guessing spark or something electrical???

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Phil

Nothing much cale, whats up with you? The battery was replaced over the summer due to the same thing happening to me while at a friends house. We put the battery from his dads ram in and it started right up. If it is possible that my coil is going bad like varsis said, how can i test it? The check engine light didnt come on while this was happening. Im going to take it for a drive today to see if it acts up again which i hope it doesnt.

Thanks for your input everyone.

Phil

moe in wichita ks
if you use marvel mystery oil in each tank of gas. you will Not need to add fuel system cleaner at all. mmo will KEEP fuel system clean, and it will lube the fuel pump, injectors, valves, piston rings. heard a story about a guy that had an airplane, that he used mmo. the faa said it must get an overhaul. when it was taken apart the mechenics said that it DIDNT need overhauled, it was clean as new.

You know moe, I always wondered about that stuff. Never thought it worked. Just thought it was just another product.

UPDATE: I drove it today to go to the grocery store again. It started right up. Ran perfect except for when id come to a stop and when id go again, it would sputter, then pick up and go like normal until warmed up. Then evferything is perfect.

Thanks

Phil
