Default '98 dakota specs...

like the title says, i'm looking for specs on a '98 dakota standard cab with 2.5 liter and 5 speed tranny. basically, what i want to know is can a stock dakota 2.5 handle 6-8lbs of boost? i have an opportunity to supercharge it but i don't wanna blow the thing up. has anyone on here supercharged one? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much in advance!

your so much better off finding a dakota with a v8... the v6 is decent though.. not many upgrades... but you can try and convert some modifications for the 5.2 or 5.9 v8's and set them up on the 3.9 v6.... lemme guess.. is the supercharger electric?....

So noone has any info on the motor at all? i guess i just need to know compression ratio, bore and stroke and how much boost these things can handle. thanks for any info! by the way, please if you wanna make a smart comment don't reply at all. thanks again and have a great day!!!

Just in interest, who makes a root charger for that motor?

Stats wise ......

Bore x Stroke 3.88" x 3.19"
Displacement 150ci (2.5L)
Compression Ratio 9.1:1
Final Horsepower (net) 123@5250
Final Torque (net) 139@3250
Initial Compression Ratio 9.1:1
Initial Horsepower (net) 105@5000
Initial Torque (net) 132@2800

and now for the stupid part......sell the truck and charger and buy a V6 or V8. Or if your mechanically inclined, which you make it sound so, sell the charger and buy a V8 out of a wreck and re-build it.

if you want to put bost in that engine youll blow it up....not on fist run ....maybe depending on killometers...but with a high compression engine not forged it will **** up 9.1:1 compression is way to high max would be 8.5:1 that litle 2.5 you wond find any internals for it unless you get them machined.sry to tell you sell the supercharger or change the engine ......fyi 3.9 is forged and compression is a litle high but not to much to blow up on 6psi of bost
