Upgraded v6 TB problem
Ok first let me give ya the relevant info. I have a 99 Dakota Sport with a 3.9 v6 and a manual transmission. I bought a used TB from a 5.2 v8. After some work I found that the TB came from a 98 Dodge Ram not a 99 Dakota. This Ram was also an automatic trans.
I was able to get the TB hooked up the way I thought it should have been but when I started the vehicle and started to drive off I noticed that the gad pedal felt as if it was push to the floor. I was able to accelerate but it did not work very well. Took alot of pressure to get it to move and I almost had to push with justthe tip of my foot to get it to move. Like I pushing it down at the very top of the gas pedal. It seems to idle fine but it doesnot seem todrop rpm's the way it did before. This is not too big an issue(I think)as it didnt drop them very fast before.
I thought I recalled something about having tohave the same year throttle cable and TB. I did do a few searches but cant seem to find that old post that discussed this.(I'm guessingI used some different wording)
If I need a new throttle cable which year and make should i buy it for?
Any how to's on tutorials on changing the cable?(never tried that before)
Or should I just lick my wounds and sell the tb on ebay or something?
thanks in advance!

get intouch with www.thefastman.com and get the correct tb for your truck. if having a different one from a different truck it may mess up your pcm. dan has tb that are bored out that fit your truck and cable system 180.00 for the complete set. you cant go wrong with dan. here is a pick of the work he done on my 4.7 tb.

RE: Upgraded v6 TB problem
Thanks for the quick response.
I had seen his website around and it was in the back of my mind. I just fired off an email to see what he has to offer. Was hoping to have a fix for the one I have here but no biggie I guess.
I know for sure that I will be VERY specific and ask use car part guys multiple times what part I am buying. Might keep me from having this problem again.

the throttle body you bought will work just fine, you need to change your throttle cable to a 98-03 v8 throttle cable.
you can order the cable from www.dodgeparts.com for about 30$, no need to get a fastman tb unless you want to. I recently did the same thing to my 01 3.9.

RE: Upgraded v6 TB problem
Thanks for that tip... I think I am ok there... just finished putting the v6 TB back on and all is normal. Except for the fact that I lost the clip that holds the damn throttle cable onto the post. Its on now with the help of some wire wrapped around it. Man does it look bad. I had to laugh at myself for that. I hope its nice and comfy nestled in the bowels of the engine compartment as it is way to dark out for me to find it now.
Anyway, thanks again for the help guys.. very much appreciated
