Default Trans Swap

im looking to swap the trans in my truck from an automatic to a manual i was wondering if any1 has done it before or has any tips or ideas on how to do it.. my truck has 175,000 miles on it and im starting to knotice that it mite need to be redone (both the engine and trans) if there is nebody out there with some input pleaze post

Well it's a bit difficult with the manual your best bet would be to just find a wrecked dakota with a manual tranny and the engine you want! And swap everything over, but it all depends, as the mounting brackets, and stick shifter will be all in different places.

that and cpu and such

the wiring will be different depending on transmission and such

it would definitally be easier to buy a wreck and transfer everything over

for the amount of time and work it will take you do the swap it would be best to do this, get the transmission rebuilt with heavy duty parts to make it last longer, most places will charge 200-300 more on the normal rebuild price, which is worth it I think. After that fork out and get a manual valve body, and you will have a 5 gear shifter,Im sure you could even get the paddle shifters as the transmission is fully electronic!

i found a wed site that has a lil info about the subject but no prices and nobody to ask about it soo that was a dead end i also went to the local salvage yard to see about a totaled out ext. cab dakota and it was the only one they had...it wasrear ended and the tailgate was in the back window (ouch) i asked aobut it and he said 1700 for the what ever i wanted out of it but he wants what ever i dont use back

a wrecked truck will be the easiest. and if your taking the engine, tranny, pcm, and everything else, $1700 aint too bad. how many miles are on it though

the truck didnt have a battery soo i didnt get a look the guy there said under 50,000 soo im not too sure not to sound dumb but what is apcm and is it had to replace let alone get to

its just the computer. it will be different with a standard.

i take it that the computer is in the engine bay just like a chevy or is dodge a lil different i havent really looked too hard when the weather is nice here ill get some pictures
