But to clarify.. The people who buy/keep older vehicles because they simply refuse to have anything modern. Because they think for some random reason new motors aren't as good as old dated motors.

Yeah I already said I refuse to buy older stuff. I could tell you about 20 bad things about the newer diesels. Why would a spend 60k on a new truck that has 100 more sensors and things to go wrong, weak sheet metal and tons of plastic. I own my truck free and clear its a tank and puts down about 400-450hp which is all I need...

And I laugh at people like you who think something is automatically better because it's newer. Whatever, that's your preference.

But you said you won't buy one because of "emissions crap". Changing your story? I can only debate what you state so.. With what you just posted now it makes more sense.
But end of the day.. Buy what you like and what don't like, don't buy. Just don't go around acting like new trucks these days can't compete with your vehicle. Because that's simply not the case.

I never said that. No need to twist my words up with your growing pains.
Newer is most cases. Better. It's like you want me to knock my 4.7 because you think a 5.2 is better? Silly for me to degrade a motor that hasn't given me any headaches. But hey..after owning a 5.9, 5.2, 4.7, 5.6, 5.7, 6.0, 3.5, 3.0, 5.0, 5.8, 5.4... I dunno. Maybe I have no real solid experience or relations to base my thoughts off of.

Yeah, I guess the fact that I'm in charge of maintenance for a fleet of almost 700 vehicles, many of which are Dodge trucks (including Dakotas of various vintages) means I don't have any, either.

BTW, I never said the 5.2 was "better". I disagreed that it was impractical. Having nothing but a boat for transportation when you live in the Sahara desert is impractical. Owning a Prius when you have a family of 12 is impractical. Owning a truck that has the previous generation of engine but does everything the newer ones doesn't isn't impractical.

700 is cute. We just ordered 3200 new ram trucks over a two year roll out.
