Default ??? for '00 '01 QC 4x4 owners

I would like to purchase a 2000 or 2001 Quad Cab Dakota this spring/summer. Iprefer a manual transfer case lever over the electronic **** as far as the method used to engage the 4x4.

I would really like to find a sport model with the lever, but if they didnt make them i can settle for the SLT model. (and maybe convert it to sport )

My question is this, did all sport models automatically come with the electronic **** instead of the lever? And im sticking with 2000 and 2001for the Amber Fire color.

So i guess the poll question really is... What do you own?

2000 was the last year for the manual lever the **** started with the new interior design in 2001 i have the manual lever and prefer it that way the electronic transfer case tend to go out a lot as well. im not sure if there is a tsb or recall on it but i know its a occuring problem with the electronic ****. if you can find a lever go with it.

Hada 2001 Sport 6cyl and sold to get a 2000 SLT 8cyl with manual. Wanted the additional power for towing but there were a few times the electronic transfer from 4wd didn't work so well and I needed to get on the highway.

im all for less electronics in a car. i dont even like power windows and locks. there is more to go wrong and break. i have had power windows and locks in other carsand never really liked them since you have to have the key in to operate anything and same goes with the transfer case.maybe thats old school, but thats just my preferance

Im a big fan of the lever. When i had my 04 Ram 2500 it was a sport model and had the lever. But i also ordered it from the
factory that way.

Alas i really didnt need that much of a truck so i sold it last year.

I have been searching through auto trader every so often since then and have mostly found that SLT=lever and Sport=****.
But i wanted to see what others have in thier truck.

I also realise that Amber Fire or nothing is really limiting my options. For in the summer i think i the most i ever seen on auto trader is 5-10 trucks. and right now only 2.

This is my search settings:
Auto Trader Search

also around 50k miles or less would be nice. I could call on the one with 99,000 miles and no interior shots and find out, but thats alot of miles.

i have a 2001 QC SLT w/ the ****. i live in colorado at an elevation of 7500 feet so it gets some use out of it and honestly i have had no problems and prefer to have the **** over the lever because it allows me to not reach down as far. i also have a manual transmission not only because dodge isnt the best with automatics but because i wanted to be more in tune with the drive. i dont mind electric windows (even though mine dont always work as planned ) but im very happy that i dont have that traction control, stability control bullcrap. i think that it should be up to the driver and his/her abilities in order to drive the vehicle, not a freaking computer's ability to read a couple of censors. sorry that might have been a tangent but i will be the dissenting vote and say that the **** is easier and from my experience makes driving in 4x4 condidtions a much more enjoyable experience.

perhaps if you PM moderator Parts/Service he can tell you exactly when that option went away...he works at a dodge dealer.
