Default Radar/ Laser Detectors

I just got a ticket the other day and was surprised to see that my Cobra radar detector didnt even go off when the Sheriff (who used a radar gun, not a laser) aimed it directly at me. What brand, if any do people use that have been successful for them?

i do not know a lot about radar. but i do know that radar can use a wide range of frequencys that your Cobra radar detector may not detect. also it may work in burst mode that works so fast that your Cobra radar detector cant keep up. somtimes rain can make it so radar doesnt work as good as it should, it can also most of the time mess up lazers. i worked at major aircraft co. we had lazer systems to measure fixtures ect. one time i held a bottle of solvent under the lazer beem, the fumes from the solvant broke the beem and the computer lost lock to the mirror.

i agree with everyone fully! i was using a buddy of mines escort passports ($500) and a cop on a overpass got me and the radar didnt even go off... i would say dont waste your money and just be cautious and obey the speed limits.

i bought a cheap one and the only thing its gone off for are things that def aren't cops. i took it off but i'm thinking about trying to mount it above my rear view mirror if i can make it look stealth just so i didn't waste 100 bucks.
