Looking for NIPPLES!
It all depends on what components you have. Factory do not come with fittings, aftermarket may, so in this case every truck is different depending on what has been replaced in the past. Just do a look when your under there, check the Tie Rods, Ball joints and any other linkage. (don't forget to give the steering shaft a good spray) you can also try doing a search. These items have been covered many times.
Aren't we all looking for nipples ? On the 04, there aren't any unless parts have been changed. I've had two steering racks on mine, "38,000 miles", and on the second one they didn't have tie rods in stock, so they put NAPA ones on that have grease fittings. You want to spray the intermediate shaft, "the shaft that connects the steering column with the rack", with WD-40 every time you change oil. Mainly the lower u-joint. I've also had to change that shaft, which evidently was causing my steering problems all along. For some reason the dealer couldn't find it. You can get a needle to use with your grease gun to inject grease into the ball joints, but there are a couple posts on here that say it does no good, due to the design of the parts. If you have a 4.7 in your quad cab, clean or replace the PCV valve. The 4.7's have a sludge problem, "that doesn't really exist until you take it back to the dealer for engine warranty repair and they tell you it isn't covered because of sludge that is due to improper maintenance". I wipe the bottom of the filler cap off, and the tube that it screws onto often in my truck. I know there is a lot of controversy over oil, but I switched to all synthetic, and do not regret it.
LMAO, I hope he didn't crack them open before he did. Actually, it sounds like something the mechanics at the Dodge garage where I bought my truck would do
