I have just purchased a 2000 dakota slt 4X2 std cab. It has power door locks. All I have is a key. How can I find if it originally came with a remote?

check by the pedals and look for a box. There should also be some sort of remote start switch... To deactivate it. But, even if you do have a remote, you probably can't get a replacement one.

 

I went to the local Dodge dealership and asked... They wanted the vin number... told me that my truck came with remotes, and that a replacement remote (they gave me the part number) would cost 60 bucks, and programming 70 bucks.

I ordered a remote with the part number on ebay for 12 bucks with shipping, and located a local locksmith who quoted 25 bucks for programming.

I am now waiting for the remote.

I received the remote by mail saturday, and had the truck programmed to it today. works great!
