Id get some of that high heat wrap, used usally for rails and wrap that metal intake tube, maybe around the box too, minimize the heat a bit.

the chrome tube looks cool, but doesnt it make sense to get an intake that has a plastic tube? seems to me that the metal would conduct more heat and hold it more than plastic would. the engine compartment can be well over 100 degrees and it seems to me that a metal tube would be even hot to the touch, so the air going thru it would heat up pretty quickly.

Maybe so, but I would prefer a plastic intake over metal because it would be lighter.

they are awesome.

you will want to wrap the intake tube with some insulation or insulation tape (comes in sheets) otherwise your intake tube will get heat soaked and will rob you of power.
