RE: why only 11mpg in 4.7?
oh btw, today i put all new bosch platinum +2 plugs and hand cleaned my throttle body and it definately starts better. i sprayed a little much cleaner down the manifold so i had to peg it a few times driving to clear it all out. runs great now! i havent drove enough to determine my mpg tho. i might still check into the sensors and/or clean them at the least

I don't like Bosch plugs because they're so hit and miss. I used to work at Advance Auto, and Bosch's advertising to retailers was that they cover 99% of the automotive applications with 15 part numbers (back when they had just the Bosch Platinum). A retailer's dream! (Fewer part numbers to stock.) But that necessarily means that each of those 15 part numbers can be too cold, just right, or too hot, in terms of heat range. Each one of them is a huge compromise. You never know if it's going to run like a raped ape or like dog poo. You might get lucky in that the plug for your engine happens to be bang-on. Or you might spend more time and money changing them out for the "right" plugs.
Just out of personal experience, I don't buy anything from Bosch anymore, unless a vehicle specifically calls it out as the OE part (and none of my vehicles do at the moment). I tried a Bosch O2 sensor on an old Oldsmobile and it ran really poorly. After putting in an ACDelco O2 sensor, it ran great. I tried standard Bosch Platinum plugs in an old Nissan truck I had (that specified NGK or Denso). The Boschs seemed to smooth the idle a little bit, but the heat range was wrong, and the truck pinged like crazy. New NGK plugs of the proper type fixed 'er right up.
sgratto96, I do hope the Bosch plugs work out for you in the long run. I don't have a problem with the quality of Bosch parts (in fact, I think it's quite good), but I think they're mis-specified for a lot of applications out there.

thanks, i like to hear all your guys' responses. i noticed my truck starts a tad quicker whether its cold morning or warm afternoon and it runs atleast as smooth as before. the old plugs were TOAST! they are "pre-gapped" so next time i have it apart i will pull them back out and measure the gap to make exactly sure because that can make a difference as well. they were $5 a piece (so $40 in all) so i hope to get my $ worth out of them. the thing i dont like is its a b*tch to get to replacing the wires cuz they are all rigged up in harnesses and if i were to tackle replacing them it would be over my head
