i have a 2001 dakota with buckets and center console. went out this morning and the lid wont stay down . it seems the latch on the lid broke cant figure out how it broke but it did . any1 have any ideas on how to get a replacement? its a rather large piece and most likely will cost a few bucks from the stealership.

Junk yard. See if you have a u pull it near you.Could probably get one for a buck there, just have to take it off yourself.

good luck letting the junk yard let you buy JUST the latch.. you will proably have to buy the whole console itself just for that peice.. Junk Yards are as bad as Stealerships...

 

do a search for this in the 1st gen durango section i think someone had this problem and found a good solution to it since ive been on the forum, (dont remember exactly when)

 

called my local dealership got it for $15.50 pick it up tomorrow. i figured the same they would want me to buy the whole lid assembly.

I have the same problem my latch broke i have the switch if you could call it that but what lacks and holds the lid on broke. good luck lte me know if find a solution.

 

mine poped off, mabie ull get lucky too!
