You can actually check the run-out of the torque convertor with a dial indicator+base to make sure its ok. I would say just to replace it though, it can cause too many problems if it's just a bit off over time. Good insurance to buy a new one.

Well, When I was bolting it up everything seemed to line up properly, the converter didn't cause anything to bend out of place so it was flat.
Also it is one of those disk type ones not the x ones...
that flex plate can be off a few thousands of an inch ".00X". theres a limit that a flexplate can be out of shape, and the way you described it buddy, you had to bend it back, it sounds like that plate has bad news written all over it. just replace it
i would replace it too, i had to pull my tranny after the engine swap because it was the wrong one and it sucks! they are pretty cheap from the dealer, and plus there is not much too these things in the first place so i would not take any chances with it.
