Oh that was the easy part actually. I dont recommend everyone doing this but, i just popped the spring out of the latch mechanizm, so all i have to do is pop the hood from the interior latch, and pull the hood up, and im good.

Technically you can get away with using only 3 pieces of mess at 1.98 a piece.

if you cut them directly in half you only need 2 pieces to do the top grille,

And i can see where you were having a problem with the lower grille.

YES!!!, it is and was a pain in the butt.

What i did was take off the 6-7 lower Torx screws and i attached little hooks then screwed the torx back in so there was about 1/4" of the small metal hook. this was used to hold the top piece of the mesh down so i can work the bottom, if you do this just right there will be about 1/4" of mesh left on the bottom which you can fold underneath and i used silver duct tape for ductboard. which clings to plastic very well, and its completely unnoticeable.

You really just gotta get down in there with your mesh wire and start manuevering things around, the bottom is hard but once you jam it down in there it will stay...

heres a picture of how mine came out

i really like that Spoolio...im gonna try that 2 on my dakota

Guys, I came up with a very simple solution to popping the hood open..
And I have completed it on my truck.
On the actual latch, not the one that pushes the other, there is a hole in it already. I took a wire and ran it through, and then ran it to the right of the hood (from the front) and put a washer on the end of it and zip-tied it to the steel bar that holds the grille.
When you pop the latch from inside the cab, the hood lifts up enough to where you can reach your fingers in the side and just gently pull on it and it pops right open easily!

It is much more simple than doing the drilling of the latch push thing and pulling down on the coat hanger or w/e you used is not exactly the best way to do it...

I will get pictures up later...

This is a good mod- clever and cheap.

But I think people should know that the gutter-guard used here is going to tarnish after time. I did this mod a few months ago, and within a month or so of doing it, the gutter-guard lost it's shine, and started to tarnish. Still looks okay, but not like it did when I first did it.
