hey guys, I have an 04 3.7L club cab and I was wondering if it is possible to swap enginestoa V8. The reason I want to do a V8 swap is so I can tow my camper, and as we all know the V6 has noooooooooo *****!!!!!!!!Is this very expensive to do? does it take alot of modification? And which V8 do you guys recommend!!!! Thanks for the input.

 

oh yea forgot to mention it is a 5-speed tranny!

 

because you have the 3.7, just buy a new truck it will be cheaper.

 

agree that it would be cheaper to buy a new truck but you'd want a 4.7 if you were to do it.

ok...i dont see how it would be cheaper to buy a new truck...you could drop a 5.7L Hemi (not a 4.7) in it for about 4k or less...so tell me how thats cheaper than buying a new truck? if you dont believe me on the cost go look up yellow2kta on dakota-durango forums...he's done it already

 

I actually talked to yellow2kta, I have him on aim, and he does have a wicked truck, but to be honest, I would buy a 5.9L magnum before a 5.7 hemi. But you can drop in a 4.7 probably with ease and same with the hemi, only thing with the hemi, is you need to do all the wiring by hand. It is a lot of work, but probably a fun job. If you were to do the hemi, I recommend the 6.1, might as well go the big step while you are there.

But if you search on google (BACK TO THE 5.9 VERSUS 5.7)

You will find the torque/horsepower curver actually much better for a 5.9. (That is if you buy a new truck), if you want to do an engine drop i suggest the 4.7 or 5.7, 6.1. 5.9 just isn't feasible unless you have something like the 5.2, or 3.9.
