engine oil capacity?

Default engine oil capacity?

I can't find what the oil capacity is for a 2nd gen 5.2. Can anyone help me with this?

if i remember correctly it is 5 qts even with filter.

Not trying to sound like a smarta** but what i usually do on a V-8 is put 4 and a half quarts in and check it before starting if it is low add until full then start until oil pressure comes up. turn it off and let it sit for about 10 min and check again. Add until full and you are ready to go and then you know what it uses. On the other hand my 318 takes just over 4 and a half.

I feel safer underfilling it, than having too much oil, so I will do the 4.5 quarts.

Just make sure you check it no matter what you do, after about a week of normal driving. But any sensible person will check the oil and other fluids on a regular basis. Like I am sure that you already do. Good luck with your Dak and hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
