Fuel tank capacity
just a curiousity, i have had my Dak R/T since Nov 99, supposedly its supposed to have a 22Gal tank, but I was checking my log book for fuel mileage, and I've never put more than 19Gal, and I've ran it well past what I thought I should have on E on the gauge. Has anyone else with the bigger tank ever noticed this?
Ethan
p.s. pretty sad that I keep track of my fuel mileage isn't it[sm=loser.gif]

even checked the part number for the tank it is a 22 Gal tank. i'll be curious to know if the sending unit fixes the problem, since the DTE is how i usually determine when to buy gas. Thanks

I have a 2004 dakota sxt crew cab 4x4 and I have ran it to where the light comes on and can only get about 16 gals. in it. It also supposedly has the 22 gal. tank. Dakman6704, Excuse my ignorance but what is DTE?
I just took a short road trip of 211 miles filling it up before I left and then filled it up when I returned. It was just a little below 1/4 and it only took 12.8 gals. That is only 16.4 mpg all highway driving which isn't good at all, because I am getting about that in stop and go city driving.

DTE = distance till empty....take it back and have them replace the sending unit. it seemed to add a few gals of capacity...i think after E, you still have about 3-5 gallons of 'reserve'.
