Default high engine rev at start up

Hi I have a 2000 dakota 3.9l v-6. When I start my engine cold it usually revs to almost 2000 rpm before dropping to normal. Any ideas how to fix this? thx

its the choke and it is that way to naturally warm up the engine...its normal. let it be for a minute and then hit the gas real quick while in neutraland the rpm's should come down...if not, then spray some carb and choke cleaner all over the outside of the throttle body concentrating on the choke area and throttle linkage.

theres no chokes on these trucks, they are fuel injected, clean your IAC (intake air control) solenoid for a first step, its on the throttle body

On the 4.7, rev'ing to 2000 rpm is not right. I agree, clean the IAC or replace it along with the TPS.
