RE: Why are gas prices so high???
Because our moron of a president has single handedly molested our economy by starting a useless war in Iraq, and because oil companies are paying off politicians to cover up for the fact that they are making sky high record profits and price gouging the American people. Bush has made us completely dependent on foreign oil when we have enough oil here at home if we quit exporting it.

Iraq and one other country did not sign it.. while the others did, and now we are at war with one of them, because if they decide to sale oil at a cheaper price in euros the american dollar will loose its value and the america as we know it will be nothing, also in the movie above sadia arabia or w/e did not sign the contract either and said they are going to flood the world with CHEAP OIL but at a euro price.. meaning if this goes to plan the american dollor is going to be worthless.. so plan on another war pretty soon.. o and a WW3 and a depression.. and riots on the streets of the USA.. cant wait.. ill finally get my big *** HD TV woot woot! Time to raid Best buy!

does it do any good to bitch about gas prices on here? no, it does not, what might help is to call your governer, congressmen, any government official you can think of....arguing on here isnt going to make a damn bit of difference....does it really matter why gas is high? no, the point is its too high for people to afford it...for alot of people its has come down to putting gas in their car, or putting food on the table...its a sad reality, but one that cant be fixed....the time is now to contact government officials and let them know we're fed up.

In case you guys didn't know, you can access petroleum import information right from a US government website (DOE). Educate yourself:
http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pe...im0_mbbl_m.htm
Take September '07 as a baseline -- simply because it's the first column. But examine all months shown -- the data is similar.
Weimported over 409 million barrels in September. Only 187 million of those barrels were imported fromOPEC nations (combined). We get more petroleum from non-OPEC nations than we do OPEC nations. We get more petroleum from Canada than we do the Persian Gulf. The highest imports from OPEC nations were from Saudi Arabia and from Venezuela, and at only 46 million and 40 million barrels, respectively.
So given that data, and given the definition of a monopoly, help me understand how "OPEC" has a monopoly, or how any one oil company has a monopoly. You can't say "oil companys do have a monoploy". That's contrarian to the definition of a monopoly. A monopoly means one company has control or virtual control of the entire market segment. "Oil companies" cannot have a monopoly.
It doesn't matter what any of us think or believe. The data is there. The truth is, most of our oil does NOT come from OPEC, or any one country in particular. The truth is, LESS THAN HALF of our petroleum imports were from OPEC nations (in Sep '07). If you think my reasoning is ridiculous, that's fine. But it's not reasoning. It's data, andsimple economics. And now you have the data, in a convenient webpage.
Now what you do with that data, and more importantly, what you do ABOUT it, is up to you. Go buy a CTD Dodge Ram and brew your own biodiesel. Or convert your truck to use E85 and distill your own ethanol. Be part of the solution.
