Default Speedo

Okay, I have tried just about everything for this. Everything that is wired to the computer is good (From the tranny the one plug) But no speed on the dash. Does anyone know if there is maybe a ground wire running from the cpu to somewhere else? Anything along those lines. Would be nice to have the speedo back....

BTW no codes for the speedo.
NO ABS light, but I think that is because there is no speed to get one from. The OD off light is always on, has been since I did my swap. Engine runs really smooth, everything is operation except that.
Also, the od off light, is on but It does work the button. So I am thinking something inbetween dash and the computer not tranny/comp.

Thoughts are welcome.

Chris

moe in wichita ks

this may not be your trouble. but one time i had a 84 ply gran fury, the horn didnt work. looked in the service man, in the horn sec the very FIRST par said that if the horn doest work, apaly the emr break and turn the ign to on only if certen lights on the dash dont come on this means that the steering col isnt grounded. i put ground wire on the steering col the horn worked fine. i hope its that easy for you.

No I didn't. Don't want to spend the money yet. I don't think it's the speed sensor but maybe? Does the OD light have anything to do with this? Just a thought. But the sensor worked before I did the swap.

Moe, I think everything is fine there. I didn't touch any of that doing the swap. Also everything else on the dash works... park brake light, tach, gas, temp... ect... just no speedo and od off light.

ok here are a few questions to try and narrow this down. when you did the swap, what transmission did your truck have in it? a500 or a518? what motor did you put in and what year is it? did you also change transmissions? if so what model a500 or a518

Originally tranny, a500. I took a 5.9 R/t Engine. This one was from a 1999. Everything plugged in and runs great. Just no speedo. Also the OD off light is constantly on. Also, I never wired in the harness for the transfer case does that make a difference at all? Mine is the manual one, and all I could tell was I would get a light in the floor which I can live without... lol.

yes the t-case plug should be just a range sensor. now since you say the od lite is on, when you drive do you have od? or do you only have 3 forward gears? be carfull sometimes when the converter locks up it can be mistaken for od. now what i'm getting at is that somewhere in your wiring there is a fault. if your od lite is on and stays on, but the switch was tested and works. this means that your tranny is running in limp mode. so i would recheck all wire to your tranny for loose conections. and is your speed sensor in the tranny itself or on the rear diff. and where are you located, if you are close to me i would love to come take a look at your rig and see if i could help.

Okay, had a look for some pictures:

http://autorepair.about.com/library/...bl366a-lib.htm

There is a picture of what my setup looks like. Mine is 4x4. So I hooked up the Speed Sensor on the Transfer case Still no go... There is a white/orange wire. an ORANGE one and a black and BLUE one.

Any ideas? Also is the black and BLUE one a ground or is it special? When I looked at the ground connections on my other engine that is what it looked like.
