Default Need some help, 1999 Dakota

I'm a new owner (1 week) of a 1999 Dodge Dakota Club Cab SLT V6 Magnum. I have been having trouble ever since the 2nd day. When I'm driving or sitting idle the truck just cuts off, no warning lights or anything. Sometimes I can just start it back up, but other times I have to let it sit for awhile and then start it. I have taken it to 2 different mechanics. The 1st one said that they put it on the computer diagnostic for 2 days and nothing, supposedly while they had it, it never cut off on them. The 2nd mechanic said thatmy fuel filter needed to be replaced, however on this truck the fuel filter can't be changed separately from the fuel pump, so he replaced the whole thing. I need help...does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be??? I'm out of $800 already, and the problem is still happening. Did I buy a lemon???

Thank You for the advice. Someone also mentioned to me the PCM. I live in the Chicago area, do you know any good Dodge Truck mechanics here?

No I don't have a remote starter, the guy I bought it from didn't give me any. Yesterday evening it stopped on me again, but this time it wouldn't start right back, the check engine light came on and NO BUS came up on the dashboard. I couldn't get it started for about a half hour, finally I did, but it was very sluggish with no acceleration, I did make it home. I really want to take it to a mechanic that specializes in DODGE trucks, do you know any??? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem on my truck. Its a 99 slt with the 5.2L. I don't know about your truck but when mine cuts out it's at low rpm (idle). when its about to cut out it spits and sputters, but if i hit the gas it will do it untill it gets the rpms up then it runs fine. Also no check engine light coems on. if any one has any idea that would help. I have a feeling its a problem witht he fuel pressure regultor. if that makes sence to anyone else?

it sounds like an ignition problem to me, have you had any tests done? the egr is not going to make your truck shut down like that, it wont run like normal, but it wont just cut out.
