Default holley TB

hey i was looking for a nice TB and i came across the HOLLEY TB on summitracing.com (part no. HLY-112-557) and in the notes section it says: "Throttle cable bracket will need to be modified. Fits three cable hookups only. Will only work with factory size throttle bodies." i was wondering what the hell this could possibly mean? does anyone have this TB? i will be running it with a mopar performance intake (summit part no. DCC-5007398AB). i would really rather not start hacking, grinding, and fabricating "custom" brackets and whatnot. thanks, J.

The 3 cable hook up part probably refers to the 3 connectors on the TB linkage, one for the throttle cable, one for the cruise cable, and one for the TV cable if you have anautomatic transmission. The TB on theSummit site has no linkage plate pictured. "Throttle cable bracket will need to be modified." probably means they want you to remove the TB shaft from your original TB and figure a way to remove thelinkage plate and attach it to the Holley TB. If you do not want to be cutting or modifyinganything, then I would saydo not buy the Holley TB. It is a royal pain to try to make the TB parts work.

You can get a V8 TB from a junk yard or Ebayand get the matching throttle cable to go with it for a lot less money. I got mine for $65 for the TB and $20 for the cable. It works great, added afew hp and a littleincrease tomy mpg.

Jimmy probably figured you were trying to upgrade a V-6 engine, in which case, the V-8 throttle body apparently helps a little bit.

That's exactly what I thought. I didn't catch that you had an R/T. But Summit still probably wants you to try to put your existing linkage plate on their TB.

There would be some modification involved to use cruise with the Holley TB. My truck doesn't have cruise because of the blower but you might be able to rig another throttle cable ball to use cruise but the other two cables should work as is.

sweet, i never use cruise because i live in chicago and dont do much highway driving, at least not for extended periods of time. so i WOULD be ok if i just tossed it on there and left the cruise off (dangling around or zip tied up?)? whould the lack of CC set off a CEL?

No it won't. Like I said, mine doesn't have room even for a cruise servo, but no CEL
