My Dodge DakotaSLT v6 3.9 liter truck was overheating and then the radiator hose exploded in half. So I went to checkers auto parts and purchased the cap to engine and lower upper radiator hoses. They did not come with the pressure cap on the cap to engine hose. What do i do? Also I found a long rusted spring after the hoses exploded???where did it come from. Thanx hope u know

 

Didn't you try other auto parts stores for the correct hose with the pressure cap on it? I would have gone the local dealer for that part if the other stores didn't have it(or gone online and looked for the correct part and order it that way)

 

If you didn't have a cap on the old hose,why need one now?The spring you found comes from inside the hose,it keeps it from collapsing.

 

you will more then likely need to go to the dealer to get the hose with the cap, when i replaced mine, napa nor autozone had the factory style, got mine from the dealership for about 20$ i think, lower hose you can get from anywhere. Spring came from inside the hose.

 

The hose that exploded HAD the cap on it. There are advantages to having that pressure cap.

thats why i run the cooling system with no pressure, under pressure its a big leek but unpressureized it just small leek.
