Default new tires

I am looking for new tires for my truck, the ones on the truck have alot of treads but they are starting to crack, I just want to get something stock, I was reading that here are some tires out there that will give you better gas MPG or worst, is this true, i never looked into this before, can you guys give me any ideas on what type or brands you guys use, I am in NYC so there is all types of weather that I will be driving in. I do both highway and city driving, so any help would be great.

Michelin LTX M/S (Mud and Snow). Best tire I ever had on any truck I owned. I got mine at 41,000 miles and now have over 91,000 miles and still got 3/4 tread left. I rotate every 9,000 miles, keep them balancedand got a lifetime balance and 3 yr alignment policy on them though. It's a real smooth quiet running tire that works great in all weather conditions. I get good MPG with them too about 21 around town and 25 on the highway.Michelin sometimes has rebates or buy 3 get 1 free offers on them too. I got $50 back on my set.

Generally, the more road biased, less aggresive looking tyres will give you better MPG. The bigger blocks in the tread on off road tyres cause more rolling resistance.

I just put my second set of Cooper ATR on my truck. I am happy with: wear, noise, & price. Great all around tire.

DakinUK is right...id stay away from anything "all terrain" unless you offroad alot. my spare is a goodyear wranglerRT/S and it has never been used. im thinking that those are what was originally on the truck new. they have a good tread pattern that looks just a little more aggresive than a passenger cartireand look to be a good all around tire. when its time to get new tires, thats what ill be getting. here is a link with specs and reviews...

I've personally had no luck with RT/S tire life. Never will I consider GY as an option. I work too hard for my $$.
Experience was with my 2004 as standard equipment. The GY lasted 17k miles. Other experience was with a '97 Blazer. Again, UGH! That's all I can say. I've had great sucess with Michelin, but can't justify the cost. So, Cooper get's my $$.

(Just a side note, Our JK Rubi has BFG's. No MT/R's for the JK's.I was able to avoid another GY tire that wears fast and cost a ton.)
